php[world] 2019

event starts

22 Oct 2019

event ends

25 Oct 2019

location

Sheraton Tyson's Corner Tysons Corner, Virginia, United States

At it’s heart, php[world] 2019 is the Washington D.C. area conference for programmers who use the PHP programming language. We’ve been running annually since 2014.

PHP as a language and a community has been rapidly changing in the last few years. A staggering 83% of the Web runs on PHP, and those websites are built on frameworks such as Drupal, WordPress, Magento, Symfony, Laravel and Laminas (formerly Zend Framework), each of which has their own strong community. We created a conference designed to appeal to all these communities and bring them together to learn from each other and collaborate across projects.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Talks should concentrate on teaching core lessons about PHP development. We also want talks covering applications and frameworks built in PHP (such as Drupal, WordPress, Laravel, Symfony and Magento). We encourage submissions on technologies crucial to modern web development such as HTML5, JavaScript, and emerging technologies. Ideas surrounding the entire software life-cycle are often big hits for our attendees.

We do welcome non-technical proposals as well that will appeal to a developer audience.

SUGGESTIONS FOR GETTING ACCEPTED

We heartily suggest that you submit more than one proposal. Most speakers will be asked to present two talks due to budget. Therefore the more submissions you make, the higher your chances of being accepted. Make sure your talk title and description clearly define what attendees will learn in your session. Use your own voice and express yourself to us personally, and we give precedence to presentations that haven’t been given before.

PRESENTATION TYPES

We will be accepting submissions of regular conference Sessions (1hr long), Workshops (2hrs long), and Training Classes (8hrs long).  Sessions & Workshops will run concurrently during the event.  Training will take place on Oct 22nd, the day before the conference.

CODE OF CONDUCT

All speakers will be expected to follow our code of conduct. Also you may read our Diversity Statement.

TIMING

The conference, including workshops & sessions will take place on Oct 23-24.  Any full-day training classes will take place on Oct 22nd, the day before the conference.
